Intermittent Stabilization Anchors (ISAs)

On taller buildings, swing stages can sway away from the façade. Intermittent Stabilization Anchors (ISAs) prevent that by securing suspended platforms back to the building at set intervals.

What They Are

ISAs are permanent anchors installed along the façade at specific heights. When crews operate swing stages or powered platforms, these anchors connect with stabilization devices to keep the platform close to the building.

Where They’re Used

  • High-rises and towers with swing stage systems
  • Buildings exposed to wind loads or wide façades
  • Projects requiring stable access for inspections or repairs

Advantages

  • Improves worker safety by limiting platform movement
  • Required by Cal/OSHA for many suspended access systems
  • Reduces wear on rigging equipment
  • Creates a smoother, safer working experience for crews

Compliance

Cal/OSHA and ANSI standards require ISAs on tall structures using suspended access systems. Like other anchors, they must be inspected annually and proof load tested every 5 years.
